we crack each other up!

On a typical weekend drive home, Lil’Mister was playing with his Super Mario Bros action figures while I was busy driving & daydreaming at the same time. I would glance at him every so often & chuckled to myself as he made voices for each character & played out a normal Super Mario Bros scenario, imagined by his 7 year old mind.

It was a typical day, highlighted by our typical banter:

Lil’Mister: Hey Mom! Guess where my mario action figures are made.
Mommy: Hmmmm.. not sure babe.. where?
Lil’Mister:It says, Made in China!
Mommy: Oh yeah! that’s cuz that’s where they make Super Mario stuff.. like your backpack. That was made in China.
Lil’Mister:So Mario was born in China?
Mommy: Yeah, I guess so.

**pause/brief silence**

Lil’Mister: Ummm… Mom?
Mommy: Yes babe?
Lil’Mister: Mario’s Italian.
Mommy: Ahahahahahahahahaha!! (lil’stinker!) ahahahaha!!

Going thru my I-Pod Lil’Mister catches a glimpse… & the saga begins…

Lil’Mister: Mommy? Wait scroll back up I saw “DIXIE”
Mommy: No honey, I’m busy right now… i’ll show you later.
Lil’Mister: Mom? You know what? I have a classmate named Dixie.
Mommy: really? that’s cool.
Lil’Mister: so i asked her if she was named after the Dixie cup & she said no. 😦

Lil’Mister: Mommy? I wish I didn’t have to go to school tomorrow. 😦
Mommy: Rian, you have to go to school so you can learn new things – that way, when you grow up you can get a good job & take care of Mommy. 🙂
Lil’Mister: But Mommy. I can just learn at home.
Mommy: ***look of disapproval***
Lil’Mister: …you know mom!! just like Abraham Lincoln!

How do you reply to that?! LOL 😛
My Lil’Mister just may be a President in the making.

Lil’Mister: Happy Anniversary Mommy!
Mommy: Thanks Rian 🙂 Do you know what an anniversary is?
Lil’Mister:It’s when you’re married again?
Mommy: Not quite but close.
Lil’Mister:What does it mean?
Mommy:It’s kinda like a birthday.. except we don’t celebrate the day we were born. We celebrate the day mommy & daddy got married and promised to love each other forever.

Lil’Mister: Oh… that’s why we had heart-shaped chicken nuggets at school today.
Mommy: *pauses & glances @ Daddy*
Lil’Mister: *whaaaaat?*
Mommy & Daddy & Lil’Mister: ahahahahahahahahaahahaha!!!

Lil’Mister: Mommy? I want to be an American Gladiator when I grow up.

Mommy: Really? That’s cool. You’d have to be a Contender first… then if you win, you can be a Gladiator.

Lil’Mister:I know Mom!

Mommy: 🙂

Lil’Mister: Mom?

Mommy: Yes baby?

Lil’Mister: I’m going to have to work on my running & swimming cuz I get tired when i run & i don’t know how to swim.

Mommy: that’s ok.. you’ve got quite some time before you can become a Contender.

Lil’Mister: Ok. *pauses* Goodnight Mommy.

Mommy: Goodnight sweetheart.
