Every little girl grows up with this pre-conceived notion of her knight in shining armor… the one man that will one day sweep her off her feet just like a princess in a fairy tale. she knows that in her search for her true love she’ll be blinded by infatuation.. she’ll kiss a few frogs & get her heart broken in pieces. yet that same little girl knows that her happily ever after is destined to be. she knows that her knight would be tall, handsome, strong & kind.. the epitome of all that is “prince charming”…

One day when she least expected it… he came. she didn’t know it at the time because for all she knew… she had already found love. she was content but definitely not happy… at least not the same kind of happy that was meant for a princess in the fairy tales that she swore her life would be patterned after. but then again, nothing thus far was very fairy-tale like. but it was a reality that she lived knowing that one day, maybe…just maybe… she’ll get her happily ever after.

 

IT WAS WRITTEN, in the stars…..it was just one of those things, where you’ve never met in person, but you just knew…It may sound”cheesy”, but, did you ever think you could meet the love of your life at the other end of a wrong number? Well…that’s how it was. Before the email era…..the voicemail era brought the two of us together – inspite of the fact that we were both (supposedly) in love with other people. Go figure….so, fate took its course. Ever heard of destiny?

…we met for the first time over a milkshake and two straws. the Lord rewrote history; and eventually, our significant others became, well…not so significant. I know that that may sound harsh, but inevitably that’s where it was heading and we just needed each other to realize it. And who can dictate one’s heart?

He wasn’t tall, but he stood tall when he promised forever. he wasn’t strong like a prince…but he stayed strong when i needed him to carry me through tough times…and though he looked nothing like the prince in the fairy tales, he was handsome, but even moreso because of the goodness in his heart. there was no fighting it because my fairy tale had already taken it’s course…

on February 14th 1997, we vowed to love each other for eternity. In April that same year we decided to let people share in our joy and celebrate the love that the Lord had been so faithful to bless us with. I thank the Lord every day for bringing us together… for knowing that even in my wildest hopes & dreams, His plans are brighter, grander & sweeter than one could ever imagine possible.
